Become an Intern

Thank you for your interest in our internship program. We’re excited to support students pursuing careers in mental health, social work, counseling, and related fields.

 

If you are currently enrolled in an accredited university and your program requires a field placement or internship, we encourage you to reach out to our Intern & Outreach Coordinator, Alexis Acheatham, at aacheatham@hirwellness.org, to learn more and begin the application process.

Who can intern at HIR Wellness?

Graduate students currently attending an accredited college or university from a wide range of disciplines—including counseling, social work, art therapy, occupational therapy, human services, nonprofit leadership, and pre-medical studies—are encouraged to seek out the HIR Wellness Institute for a unique and transformative field experience.

Do you accept recent graduates or volunteers?

No. At this time, we only offer internship opportunities to actively enrolled students who are completing internships or field placements as part of their academic curriculum.

Are internships paid?

Our interns are invested in through a comprehensive and immersive internship experience. Like many other internship training site, this is an unpaid placement intended to support students on their learning journey as they recieve their field requirement hours.

Do you offer academic credit?

We do not directly award academic credit, but we work with your university to help you fulfill your field placement, practicum, or clinical internship requirements. We’ll provide any necessary documentation or evaluations.

What is the time commitment?

Interns are expected to follow the hours and duration set by their school.

Are remote or hybrid internships available?

No. At this time, all internship are in person.
