she | her | hers
Emily has always been drawn to occupational therapy because it allows connection with people while bringing meaning, purpose, and function into their lives. It is an art that takes a person’s mind, body, spirit, environment, roles, and desires into account. This led her to HIR Wellness Institute, where she holds the role of Lead Occupational Therapist. In her role, Emily works with our youth and Elder relatives in both individual sessions and therapeutic groups to address challenges that may be preventing them from engaging in daily life activities. This can be physical, cognitive, mental health or sensory challenges. The goal is to increase function and engagement in daily life to increase independence and overall quality of life.
Emily Cabaltera is Filipino, German, Polish, and Norwegian. Emily received her Bachelor of Arts from Mt. Mary University with a focus on psychology and pre-occupational Therapy, and a minor in biology. She later received her Doctor of Occupational Therapy from Mount Mary University. Emily is motivated by the smiles on her relative's faces and the successes that relatives and parents or relatives share. Emily can see a real difference Occupational Therapy makes in people’s lives through connection and meaningful interventions. Emily finds so much joy in knowing she is making an impact that can last a lifetime and be truly transformative.

The CAM™ Framework™ has transformed Emily’s practice as an occupational therapist in a significant way. The practice of slowing down and intentionally having small caseloads under this framework allows Emily to be present with herself, and therefore her relatives. The CAM™ Framework has a focus on making sure the providers are cared for, to ensure we are able to provide healing and care for our relatives in the best way possible.
